At the end of 2021, the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH and the European Union signed an agreement of the implementation of the EU support to BiH’s justice reforms - IPA 2019project, which is the continuation of the EU support to the judiciary of BiH.

The project will provide support in areas that are relevant in terms of accession process, which is strongly linked to the priorities outlined in theCommission Opinion on Bosnia and Herzegovina's application for membership of the European Union, the accompanying Analytical Report and the Expert Report on Rule of Law issues in BiH from December 2019.

These EU documents provide the framework for a reform of the justice system aimed at improving services delivery, independence, efficiency and accountability of the entire judicial system, and providing for legal certainty and equal access to justice.

All project activities are focused on improving integrity standards, as well as the accountability, credibility, transparency, efficiency and quality of work of judiciary in BiH by increasing the alignment with the EU acquis and the applicable European standards.

The basic project information are available on the website of the HJPC BiH: https://vstv.pravosudje.ba/vstvfo/E/141/article/109670.

The first project phase will be implemented in the period 1 February 2022 to 31 July 2023, in the total amount of EUR 5.8 million, of which the EU provided EUR 3.3 million and Bosnia and Herzegovina EUR 2.5 million.
